The working version of the MKSearch system includes a range of configuration settings to address specific system requirements. This page records some special cases.

JAXP SAX driver configuration

The Java runtime should detect the SAX driver to instantiate from the meta service provider properties files in the GNU JAXP Java archive. For development purposes the GNU Ælfred driver is used gnu.xml.aelfred2.SAXDriver.

At the time of writing, this property setting was not properly detected by the Sun Java 1.4 runtime on Windows. As a workaround, the Ælfred driver has explicitly been declared in the JSpider batch file %mk_home%/bin/java-jspider.bat.
